It’s funny to wake up on January 1st without any BIG “resolutions”, but I am pretty damn happy with my life right now and all the amazing people that are in it. For years my resolution was always to lose weight, but I am proud to say that 2013 was the first year when my weight didn’t fluctuate and I was able to maintain a healthy relationship with food and my body. I’d like to thank running, a primarily whole-foods diet, and Pulp Kitchen at Queen & Broadview in Toronto for helping me stay on track!
2013 was a good year. I learned A LOT about myself as a runner and as silly as it may sound, I feel like this was the year I became a “real runner.” I say that because my relationship with running went through quite the transformation and at times, I didn’t know if we would make it. You can read more about my experience with running and anxiety here and here, but in a nutshell, it was a tough year. BUT it was also an AWESOME year and I know that the struggle and challenges I faced in 2013, have only made me stronger.
2014 is going to be a HUGE year. My race schedule is growing and it’s only January 1st. This is what it looks like so far:
I was originally going to run my first marathon in Mississauga, but after we got into the Nike Women’s Half, I switched to Ottawa so I would have some time to recover and get ready to race again. The best part about Ottawa is that so many of my favourite running friends are running it! There is going to be a serious finish line party…if I can still walk. The Nike Women’s Half-Marathon in DC is going to be pretty awesome too. I am planning to run a PB at this race as well as add a new Tiffany’s charm to my bracelet 😉
If I do have one running-related resolution, it’s to keep this blog updated! Since marathon training officially starts TODAY (thanks coach), I promise to update this blog at least once a week, but hopefully more, as I go through the training journey to 42.2K. HAPPY NEW YEAR and here’s to a kick-ass 2014!
What races have you signed up for in 2014? Which are you most excited to run?!?
